headed south to Salt Lake City. Curtis has a work meeting here tomorrow and I am off this week, so decided to give him some company for his travels. Roads were mostly bare and dry. Just blowing snow on top of Monida Pass. It was spring like here in SLC- with temps up around 45F and the sun was shining. Lot of snow around though. Just came back from eating dinner at OutBack Steak House.

Picture of the Week #8

Taken down along the Missouri River on this cold February day.

Mother Nature

this one is for my train loving husband

Have you gone a little wacky this year. I know it is still only February, but these extreme temperatures are beyond normal. These temps are usually what we get at the end of January, not February. It is bright and beautiful, but oh, so cold. I have just run a few errands and it was saying minus 12 on my car. And mind you it is almost noon out. Not sure what the official low was last night, but it was reading minus 24 at 7am this morning. Oh, please bring on more spring like weather. Enough winter!!!!!

Another Visitor

Here are the footprints

Here are the tracks

Here is where it lives.

Here it is!!!
We seem to have another visitor to the backyard.

3 Layouts

I just put together 2 layouts of the grandkids making cookies at Christmas time. I have also been working on a December mini book. It is almost done and I will be able to add photos and add more embellishments and take photos of.
Another snowy day. I was canceled from work yesterday and home on call.
Got the laundry done a day early and just have to finish folding it now.
Off to see family photos later that were taken at the end of Dec. when Cait was still home. Hoping I can get Amy to post some on her blog, so that Cait is able to view them.

Another Snowy sunday

It has been snowing practically non-stop all weekend. Our previous snow had all melted earlier in the week when we experienced a tease of spring. Glad I could just stick at home. But, I just went out to fill the bird feeders and shovel the walk. It is very nippy out there too- a whole 1F. Curtis and I have been enjoying all the bird activity in the backyard--he has his camera set up at the back door on a tripod. Have now seen nuthatch at the suet block, besides the woodpeckers and chickadees. It is a real nature loving backyard with all the mature trees--one reason I would not like living in a newer house.

Breakfast for Dinner

Last evening was my night to watch H&N while Kirsten went to derby practice. So they come a little early and stay for dinner too. I am fighting this head cold and didn't really feel like cooking a big dinner so decided pancakes would be good. Harlee started whining she didn't like pancakes. But then I told her I had blueberries that she could make a face on her pancake with and she was a totally different child. She and Nik love blueberries. So here is H with her pancake face--we had to put syrup on first so they would stick.

Nature Discovery

Here, all this time I thought we just had one flicker coming to the backyard. Well, yesterday I saw 3. And then today I saw 4 sitting in the dead birch tree behind us. I know they just look like blobs in my picture, but I did get the binoculars out and have a good look. So, I think I have a family visiting my backyard, which thrills me to death. Still have the little downy woodpecker coming too.

Windy Sunday

All papers are from MME- So Sophie collection
Quickutz dies- Sunshine alphabet, plant, notebook page
Hero Arts- Fabulous Flourish stamp

It is SO windly out!!!! But it is sunny and hopefully some of that wind will help dry up the puddles of water lying around.

This layout I did yesterday. I have been procrastinating scrapping the large picture. It is such a favourite of mine. But it didn't look that great as a single page layout, so I made it into a double. Do you ever have trouble scrapbooking favourite pictures? You just want to do justice to them. But in the end, I do like how it turned out.

Yesterday, Curtis and I ran to the post office, went out for lunch, picked up some bird seed and then came home. We swept out one area on our front sidewalk and had all the water gone, only for it to reaccumulate in no time time at all. Also added much needed wiper fluid to the Pilot. Curtis left on a photo expedition and I came in and ironed shirts for Curtis and remade the bed. Kirsten came over for a bit with the kids. Harlee gave us our Valentine present--some conversation hearts--too cute!!!

Help, I'm Melting!

Just out of Great Falls down I15 to Helena

The little frozen water left on the back deck

melting footprints in the backyard

The first couple of photos are from the drive to Helena, with everything looking so snowy from the beginning of the week when we had tons of snow.
Yesterday it started melting and will continue through the weekend. The chinook winds are blowing and it is 43F at 9am in the morning. Enjoy this little breath of spring, because a week from now it is supposed to be cold again.

Picture of the Week #6

It's another couple of bathtub shots of Nic and Harlee. How can I just put just one or the other up??? They both are like little fish in the tub.

Ran down the road to Helena today for breakfast at IHOP and a shopping trip to Costco. Finally a break in the winter weather--everything was melting.
