California Sunset

Despite all the rain there was the weekend I was visiting in Monterey.   Sunday afternoon did clear and there was a pretty amazing sunset.

So glad to be off work today.  I have worked 42hours this last week and that is way too much when one hasn't been working at all.  Today, is a big vegetation day for me.

I was up at 4:30 yesterday and I was just going to bed at midnight, since Curtis flew in last evening.  His plane was supposed to get in at 1107pm, but of course it was late and didn't arrive until 1133pm.  I am one tired person today!!!!

I had already uploaded the photos for the post and they wouldn't add, so had to reboot the computer and try again!!!  GRrrrrrr..........

It's Cookie Baking Time

Kirsten and I are in the midst of cookie baking for the holiday season. Today we did some chocolate mint squares and some chocolate toffee bars and a double batch of sugar cookies.
The kids like to help cut out and decorate them. Harlee was done early at school today and so I picked her up and she came home with me. Kirsten and I had made the dough earlier, so it was already to cut out. Soon Kirsten and Nic arrived to help out.























I have been up since 5am and finally putting my feet up, now it is 8pm. I am pooped and I head into work again tomorrow.

I am Beat

I wish I was able to sleep better at night when Curtis is out of town.  Just getting to sleep is a pain and then I am waking up almost every hour.  What is with that???  Got to bed late Sat. night after watching the grandkids for the evening and then was up early for work on Sunday and then back to work this morning for a few hours.  Why did I wake up at 4am when I didn't have to be up for another 45min.  I would just like to crash one of these night.
Maybe it is the season and thinking all that needs to be done for Christmas!!!!!
I came home at lunchtime and have got 2 boxes all packed up to send out.  That is tomorrow's job and also some Christmas baking with Kirsten. 
All the snow we had on Saturday is melting and making the roads a darn mess.  Should be slippery this evening when  everything freezes up again.

A Little Snowy

this morning.  It is pretty and makes it seem more like Christmas.  And it is chilly out there too-13F.

I was out feeding the birds and the squirrels this morning and the back door to the garage slammed shut and I couldn't get it to reopen.  Panic set in for a minute!!!!  Because do I have my cell phone on me to just go out to the backyard--that would be NO.  So, I finished what I was doing and headed around to the front.  We have a number pad for our garage door.  Was very convenient when the kids were little, as they didn't have to carry a key for the house.  Tried it once, tried it twice and it would not open.  Now, I am starting to panic.  But third time was a charm and it opened.  Think it is acting up a little, because it is so cold out.
Managed to work a few hours yesterday afternoon.  Has been about 3 weeks since I set my foot in the building.  Scheduled for tomorrow and there are only 4 of us, so I am thinking I will work.
Ran some errands yesterday and spent a little time with Kirsten.  Going to spend the evening with H&N so their mum and dad can go to Tim's work Christmas party.  They don't get to go out much, so they deserve a nice meal and and evening out.

17 Mile Drive

While I was visiting my hubby in the not so sunny California, we did the famous 17 mile Drive , which is one of  the most famous scenic drives in the world.  You drive through majestic Del Monte Forest and along the dramatic Pacific coast.  And also along one of the most famous golf courses- Pebble Beach.  Once upon a time it was free to drive along here and now costs $10.  I will post half of the photos I want today and the rest tomorrow.

The last couple of days I have been playing catch up from being away.  Doing laundry, getting groceries and today I had a couple of appts. I couldn't miss.  Spent some time with the grandkids yesterday afternoon, which was great.  Nic had to check out all the Christmas decorations!!  It's cold out and snow expected tomorrow.
