It's the Weekend!!!

I see I haven't posted in a couple of days. Mostly I haven't a photo, a craft project, a scrappy layout to share. My days have been busy.

Today I started my day mowing the lawn. I pulled weeds out of the raised beds. I cut some tree limbs suckers off the bottom of trees that were trying to trip me up. Curtis and I went out for a late lunch.

Yesterday, started when work called to see if I could possibly go in, since they were a nurse short. Since I was awake, I told them I could go in until lunch. I had promised Kirsten I would watch the kids for a while in the afternoon. At dinner time I headed out to the fairgrounds. It was Relay for Life and Kirsten's Derby girls had a team participating in the event. I met up with Kirsten and Harlee for some dinner. By the time I came home Curtis was home from the Flathead.

Oh, yes, with all the dither of yesterday ,morning I managed to lock my self out of the house. I had picked up Curtis' Keys off the board and he didn't have a house key on it. Talk about stupid!!!!! I had planned to drop Harlee through an unlocked window when Kirsten got here. But, alas, one of the fellows doing the siding on the house did it for me and let me back in.

A Little Happy Mail

Just a couple of things today.  I didn't have to work.  That's OK because I am a little pooped from the 3 shifts I did over the last couple of days.
Our power was out briefly last evening, I think because of the wind blowing.  It had flickered a little earlier and then finally went out.
I bought  finch feeder last summer and have never really seen birds feeding at it.  But the seed seems to disappear.  Today, I managed to see the little finches feeding and capture it with the camera.

Today, I received some happy mail from MME.  I won their last layout challenge and their awesome goodness arrived  via UPS.  The whole Indie Chic-ginger collection.  I am looking forward to using this .  Their is some travel related elements that I look forward to using when I get around to scrapping our Hawaii photos.

I went over to Kristen's place this afternoon to help her decorate cupcakes.  She is making these awesome high heel cupcakes to sell at Relay for Life.  I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.  I enjoyed spending time with the kids too.

Relay for Life

Relay for Life is this weekend here in Great Falls.  Kirsten's Roller Derby Team has a team participating this year.  My friend, Robyn and I donated a basket to be auctioned.  Today, I finished collecting goodies and put the basket together and gave the basket to Kirsten to turn in.

I
I was happy to be off today and catch up on a couple of things.  Ran to the post office, got some groceries and put fuel in the rig.  Caught up on paper work at home--paid some bills.
Then it was time to take Harlee to the swimming pool.  She tripped coming out of the school and scrapped her nose and upper lip.  I felt so bad, she hurt herself.
Yesterday was another busy day at work.  And tomorrow I am canceled.

Having a Quiet Sunday

Just chilling out after working a couple of long shifts in the NICU.  I haven't worked 2 -12hour shifts back to back, since going to Hawaii in March.  So, I feel like I just hit a brick wall and very tired out.  But, I managed to get through my shifts -attended a high risk delivery, admitted a baby, took care of a 3 baby demanding group.  It was like a never was gone.  And they expected the same out of me, like I had worked last week, which I hadn't .  And trying to get used to the new medication Emar is a nightmare.  I haven't used it yet without a problem.
So today, I am taking it easy, as I will be back tomorrow for another long day.
And we are taking Harlee to the movies to see Brave, the new Pixar animated show.   Should be a fun afternoon, don't you think?

A Little Sewing

I have been sewing away the last couple of days . Working on some burp cloths from material I have had for a little bit. Watched a couple of movies while I have been down in the laundry room.

I was out mowing the grass this morning and doing the trim.
Met some friends for a nice lunch.
And then I went to the pool to watch our little mermaid jump off the diving board.

And I actually will get to go into work in the morning.

What a Surprise

Last evening, after sending the grandkids home, I was check out the MME blog.  I opened their page and there was my layout staring back at me.  What a surprise this was!!!!   I frequently enter the monthly challenge-one, because I love their product and two, because it motivates me to do a layout.  I never win anything, so it was a shock for me.  But, I truly appreciate it.

Yesterday, I went up to the hospital and renewed my BLS for another 2 years.
I did some sewing.
I cleaned my bathrooms,
Then we had H&N--I fed them dinner.  I made home made Mac and Cheese and they gobbled it right up.  After dinner it was off to the pool with Harlee and Curtis held down the fort at home with Nic.
I managed to lose Harlee's goggles coming out with a stop at the potty and then I carrying her to the car, as it was pouring rain.  Will have to get her a new pair today.

Swinging

Yesterday, it being Father's Day and all, I invited Kirsten and the kids over for dinner. Tim could come too, but he had to work.
Nic was napping when they came over and never woke up the whole time they were here.
So, it turned out to be a very quiet dinner. Kirsten even went down and had a relaxing bath in the jetted tub.
I took these photo of Harlee when she went out to play on the swing in the front yard. Her mug and auntie used to swing on it when they were her age. It is very hard to take a good photo with a moving object like a swing. But, I like the capture.

A Perfect Day for a Wedding

Yesterday, Curtis and I wen to the wedding of a gal I work with.
It was out in the country-on her fiance's ranch.
It was a beautiful setting.
And she couldn't of asked for a more beautiful day---I know she was worried to death about this.  But Mother Nature co-operated.
Lots of people from work were there for her and it was a fun afternoon.

such a beautiful day out in the big sky country

 The beautiful bride
 the happy couple
the card I made for them in her colours of black and pink

I kept myself busy today.  Curtis has been out of town since Wed.  Went for my walk, did laundry,  vacuumed through and mopped floors.  The house is once again clean.
The siding on the house is moving along  The back is completely finished and they were pounding on the walls of my scrap room today.  Stamps falling of my shelf I have on the wall.  That's why I had to clean house and stay out of that room.

came the call from Kirsten.  Can you take Harlee to the swimming pool this evening.  Tim has a second job at a pizza joint in the evenings.  The sister pizza store was damaged when a car went through the front window.  Tim and Kirsten needed to be there.  And I was off to the pool for another evening with Harlee.  It is fun to see her enjoying herself in the water, like the mermaid she thinks she is.  She swims her little heart out.  And is always bouncing around in the water.

Swimming lessons

It was time to get Harlee started with swim lessons!!!  She started this week.  And she LOVES the water.  She thinks she is Ariel, the mermaid  and who says she isn't!  We have been working around Kirsten's schedule, so I got to take her to the pool the last 2 nights and probably will help out again next week.

waiting to jump in the water
 making sure nana is watching
 Look how happy she is
 swim, swim, swim
 floating
She has a huge smile on her little face!
chicken, airplane, soldier,  chicken, airplane, soldier!!!

I was on call for work and went in for a while to help them out.  Very windy out.

Glitz Design June Challenge

Glitz Design wanted a masculine theme for the month of June and this is what I came up with.

Product used:Papers- Glitz Design's Love and Games (Floral and Damask)
                                                       Hoopla (Polka and Zebra)
                               - Glitz Design's What Nots (Dance in the Sunshine)
                                                       Epoxy Words (Vintage Blue)
                                                        Glitzers (Hoopla)

                               - Basic Grey Damask Sticker
                               - Title is done with a Heidi Swapp plastic piece for a mini album, I cut out.

Got the Harlee bug, off to her first swim lesson last evening with her mum and we watched the brother.  Got him bathed up in our big tub and then Harlee came back here and had a bath in it too, to get rid of the chlorine.  She had fun and it will be a total of 3 weeks .  Had made supper for everyone, so Kirsten didn't have to think about that after work .
On call this afternoon for work, but they are still quite slow.

MME June Challenge

It is time for another MME layout challenge and this one is to do fussy cutting.

This one is a fun one...pull out a pair of scissors and get ready. We are asking you to show us your finest fussy cutting (hand cutting). Think detailed and creative!
1. You can submit a layout,card,album,altered item,etc.
2. The project must consist of mainly MME. It must "look" like a MME layout. :)
3. The project must be created new for this challenge.

So, I got out my scissors the other day and created a layout for the challenge.I fussy cut around the paper added on the top right and the aqua leaves on top of that piece.  I also cut out the zig zag on the bottom and the flowers on the lower right.
I used quickutz dies and memory box dies to cut out the flowers on the left, the upper flowers on the right and the title.
Product used:Papers-So Sophie-"Pretty Girl" "Birds of a Feather" "Family Ties"
                                 Breaking Free-"Only Smiles" "Summertime Girl"
                     MME Brads
Pearls from Hero Arts and Kaiser Craft.

It is still early in the day, but I have changed sheets, done a couple loads of laundry, filled my rig with gas, got some groceries, have dinner in the crock pot.  All the while I am on call for work.  Next is cleaning the bathrooms.

Time with Lugnut

Yesterday, we got to spend time with the grandson.  His mum and sister were with the roller derby team at the Safety First Rally and his dad was working.
He came over and his nana made him Mickey Mouse pancakes with strawberries.  He ate up everything in sight.  And he is obsessed with cutting with a knife.  I have some little plastic ones that are pretty safe.  So, he cut strawberries and pancakes and was happy.
He played a little IPad while nana cleaned up the kitchen.  Also he had to wear his grandpa's train apron while he helped me in the kitchen.  Then grandpa got ready and we went to the Safety First Rally.  We collected enough stamps so he could get a new bike helmet and he picked a blue one.  We visited with Kirsten and Harlee.  He LOVED getting to climb in the fire truck, the ambulance and the helicopter.  He also had to visit the train museum that is at the fair grounds with grandpa, since he loves trains so much.

We came home and fed him some lunch and then he headed to our bed with his trucks and cars, came back out for NicNacks puppy, some fuzzy birds I have, the Leapster and then  book.  He didn't sleep but he was quiet and that is something for Nic.  And then his daddy came to get him and he wanted to stay.  All in all a good time with the grandson.

What--Another Movie???

Yep, that would be it.  2 movies in 2 weeks and that would be a record for Curtis and I.  There usually are no movies we are interested in, but this summer is different.  Late yesterday afternoon we went to see Snow White and the Huntsman.

It was a pretty good movie.  And we still want to see Men in Black and take Harlee to see Brave.

Today, we had the wild man, Nic with us from about 8:30 until 2pm.  He was pretty good.  We took him to the Safety First Rally.  He got to climb in the fire truck, the ambulance, and the helicopter.  And he got a new bike helmet.  The weather was decent and there wasn't a huge crowd of people there, which was good for Nic.  I made him Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast with strawberries.  And he even had quiet time for a bit after lunch.  I will have photos to put up of him tomorrow.

I Love my Nana Time

A couple of weeks ago, Harlee came off the preschool bus and asked me if I would go with her on a field trip with her on the last day of school. So today, was that day. I went up to the preschool , met Harlee, rode the bus with her- it was great to spend time with her.
So, where did we go-The Children's Museum and then a picnic lunch at the park. And it was a perfect day-the sun was shining and the perfect temperature.
The museum was a little out of control. Harlee's preschool was to be the only group there at that time, but oh no, there was another school with their Kindergarten classes there. But the kids had fun and that was the main thing.

-

And I brought Harlee home with me when we were done with lunch.
While I mowed the grass, she played out on her scooter, swung on the swing,
Did some chalk art.
It was great spending time with our princess.

Enough, I Say!!!!

This is the second night in row we have been under a tornado watch. It is not unheard of here, but doesn't' happen that often. And to have 2 nights in a row is a bit much. The thunder is rolling, the lightening is flashing and it is raining. Last night, thankfully it moved north and east of us. But, some areas got hit with 90 mph winds and baseball sized hail. And Kirsten, the kids and their dog here for a while last evening until things blew over. I will try and upload a couple of photos from facebook, but no guarantees.

Yesterday, i was in mandatory classes at work all day. Today, i was scheduled to work, but have just been on call. I managed to get my ironing all caught up, while watching "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I went out and found a bathing suit on sale for Toots, since she starts swimming lessons next week. Her one from last year was a little small.
Working on the last 2pages of H's album.

Sunday Stuff

No creating for me today, as I was working. Playing ward secretary today and it is always busy when I sit behind that desk.. It's not just sitting at the desk answering the phone. It's updating charts, filling out papers for the next day, entering orders into the computer, restocking supplies, checking temps on the fridges. And because I am a nurse , I usually end up doing nursing jobs too. It's a double edged sword. I have great respect for the gals that do this job on a day in, day out basis.

But I continue to work on the Yellowstone album

Just Another Saturday

And kind of boring at that. Haven't been motivated to do much since I got up this morning and called into work and they didn't need me. But I am going in tomorrow for a while.
Went to have lunch out and Curtis ended up with my drink in his lap, which didn't make for a good time.
Couldn't decided if it wanted to be sunny or rainy out, but it was warm out, at least. Not the snow of last weekend.
Visited with Kirsten and the grandkids.
Just a couple more pages from the Yellowstone mini album

TGIF

Although it really doesn't matter in my world.

I actually got to work some today. And have to deal with the new electronic medication record. And could it just go smoothly for me- oh no!!!!
Hopefully I learned a thing or two.
And I did learn the unit is haunted at night-spooky.

A couple more pages from my little mini album.
