New Year's Eve!

Almost ready to say good bye to 2014 and welcome in a New Year!

It will be a pretty quiet evening around here! Took Cait over to Kirsten's so she could play games with the kids! She will be on the plane in the morning to head back to the coast.

I have been busy in the kitchen today. Cooked up the turkey carcass and made turkey noodle soup. Made some scones and some more nuts and bolts. Cait is taking lots of goodies back with her.

Worked a half day yesterday. Curtis and Cait went to the movies while I toiled away!

Wishing everyone a healthy and Happy New Year!

Lots of White Stuff!!!

They say we had 6.9 in., but there is more than that in my back yard!

Caitlin had an alarming call from her boyfriend this afternoon. He said their whole department at work had been fired! And by gosh, a couple of hours later she got the call! Talk about a punch in the stomach! I think the business is being very premature! No one else does their jobs! Let's hope it is a blessing in disguise. And that she finds another job quickly! I am glad she was home and that I didn't have to deal with her on the phone, miles away! There will be no more buying at Zulily for me! I will not support a business that does this!

Snowing, Snowing, Snowing

It started snowing about 6am this morning and it hasn't given up all day.  There is about 8-10 inches of new snow on the ground.  And it is pretty cold out too, around 12F.  I have hibernated all day.  Been in my scrap room trying to clean up after creating a mini album and Christmas cards.  I think I may have made a dent in it.
And Cait has decided to go and have coffee with a high school friend who is home for the holidays, asking her dad to chauffeur her.  He just called to say they arrived at appointed destination.  Our next door neighbor is so helpful!  He just came by with the snow blower in front of the house and I went out and did from the house to the walk.  We shall see how much snow falls over night.  It will be a winter wonderland come the morning.!!!!

Will be taking photos then.  I did actually take some of the squirrel in the bird feeder today.

But will share a few photos from Christmas morning.

The kids arrived in new coats.  Harlee with a Frozen figure and Nic with a Mindcraft one.  You can see we had a white Christmas
 He was so excited!!!!
Nic got a Lego hoodie from his auntie.  He was still wearing it the next day when he came over!
The princess handed out the presents
 Another motorcycle!
And a Lightening MacQueen.
And everyone wanted to play with the little guys stuff!!!

Reaching a Milestone!

After a few busy days, today has been pretty mellow. And today we celebrate once more! Curtis and I have been married for 30 years! Through thick and thin we stick like glue! We had our celebration back in August when we cruised to Alaska! We did go out to lunch and took Cait with us!

I had wanted to get some photos. Tried to go yesterday, but our new fridge was being delivered. Curtis had to take out the cupboard over the fridge to accommodate the new one. So, we had Tim come over to help put it back up. Too many of the family have back issues to struggle with it.

After lunch we headed down to the river to. Take a couple of photos. It was freezing cold! The wind was whipping my hair straight up so I put Cait's hat on!

Brrr.... More snow and cold coming!

She's arrived Safe!

Caitlin arrived home safe and sound this evening. Although her plane was late coming in.

These two surprised me when they showed up.

Harlee was in her jammies and they had been out looking at Christmas lights.

Kept myself busy. Made meatballs fir tomorrow. Made some mincemeat tarts! And some more nuts and bolts! Also ran to Target and to meet a friend at the Sletten cancer center.
The grandkids were over earlier. And the big day is almost here!

A Visit with the Jolly Old Fellow!

We have been trying to get the grandkids to visit Santa! The usual wonderful Santa at the mall isn't there this year! So we have been searching for alternatives. I had to work when the hospital had their annual party where there are Santa photos. Kirsten thought there was one at the Western outdoor store on the weekend, but it had been the weekend before.
Today I saw they were offering tractor rides with Santa. So we decided to give it a try! It was not very organized and after waiting about 30min. the natives were getting restless.
Kirsten also had heard the bank across town was having visits with Santa. That was the place to go! Not crowded and the kids were able to enjoy their visit!

Harlee went first! Look at the smile on her little face!

Nicholas was playing shy! So, Kirsten sat Cooper by the jolly old elf! He is quite the entertainer! Telling Santa a big story!

Finally I was able to persuade Nic to take a turn!

All, in all, a great visit! And they took photos too and didn't charge! But, I took my own and they didn't care!

Winter Solstice

Yesterday, we celebrated The Winter Solstice.  The shortest day of the year!  Thank goodness!  I am happy to be heading the other way.
I was supposed to work, but woke up in the middle of the night with a booming headache and it still hadn't gone by the time I was supposed to get up.  Not good.  So, I stayed at home nursing my head.  Finally subsided around 4pm.
Later in the day I wrapped up some gifts, while I watched some skating on TV.
I could hear that wind blowing the whole time.
Curtis got the cupboard out from above the fridge, so we can have the new one move in.  He will reinstall the cupboard after the new fridge is in place, so he doesn't misjudge.  He will have Tim and Cait around to help him.   One more sleep until my baby is home!  And they say we will have snow for Christmas!
I get to share pictures from our drive home from the Flathead.

 Fresh snow in the mountains.
Lots of trains moving through the mountains.

 Low lying clouds!

 A stop for a waterfalls

Clear skies once you get on our side of the mountains.
You can see all that nasty weather hanging over the mountains.

The Final Countdown is On!

5 day and the big day is here! Still have some wrapping to do.

Kirsten had heard about Santa being at a store and wanted to take the kids there rather than the crowded mall! But, alas, it was last weekend!

But decided to get a few photos of the kids while they were dressed up!

And in the end the snow globe got dropped on the floor and broke!

Took Harlee to a birthday party!

It's Been a Busy 24 Hours.

The last two days have been a whirlwind!!!!
Yesterday, started with me finishing baking some nuts and bolts (The Canadian version of Chex Mix).  I finished frosting some Praline cookies.  And also a batch of Sugar Cookies I had made of the dough I had left over.  They ended going with Harlee to her school party today.  And I guess they all got eaten, except one she kept for her dad.
Yesterday afternoon was also Nic's program at school.  He did exceptionally well.  He came out and gave us all a hug when we arrived.  He sang his songs and then read his version of The Night Before Christmas!

Curtis and I left his program and headed on the road up to the Flathead Valley.   We wanted to deliver Christmas gifts to his dad and Sarah and say Merry Christmas.  It was supposed to be good weather.  But, we got into the mountains and it was snowing.  At times the visibility was the pits...But we got there safely and turned around and headed back around lunch time.  I wanted to be home before it turned dark.  Good thing we went now, as it is not going to be nice traveling into the mountains from now until Christmas.
