Couple More Cards

Just sneaking in a post!  I know, 2 days in a row.  That is what can happen when I am not exhausted from working and just life in general.  Although, I do go into work for a few hours this afternoon to cover for a coworker.

Just spending a chilled out weekend at home!  Curtis even braved the grocery store for me yesterday!

Linking my cards with the Simon Says Stamp Wed. Challenge. Use more than one die or punch.  Not a problem for me!

Yesterday, I even had enough ambition to bake!  I bet you didn't know it was hot cross bun season?  I threw together a doz.  They are always so yummy!

Spring has Sprung!

Or so the calendar says!   The daylight hours are somewhat longer.  Yeah!!!  I hate the darkness  of winter. The temps seem to be warming up.  And I saw my first robins in the backyard a couple of days back.  I have heard them for a bit.

Monday past, Curtis and I did a Lethbridge run for passport photos.  Now to get the paoerwork submitted.  And do a little shopping.  The US dollar is great agaist the Canadian dollar at the moment.  We still tend to see lots of Canadian vehicles driving around Great Falls.

I have not worked any shifts this werk, which has been quite enjoyable.  Although I did go in for my evaluation and also some MOAB( management of aggressive behaviour) training this week.  And only a couple of short shifts for this next week too!  But I have got more than 100 hours in for this quarter to get the registry bonus.  And Social Security will not be happy with all the money I am earning.  They seem to think I should only earn a certain amount of dollars!  And I am not very good at telling work no, because I know how hard it is to work understaffed.

Got my biannual check up done at the dentist and have my teeth sparkling clean now,  and no major issues!  I am sure we have bought a cow or two for our dentist with the crowns Curtis and
I have received in our mouths!

Have been creating a card or two this week.  Have my Easter cards all finished up.  Wanted to enter a couple of challenges.....

The first one is with Simon Say Stamp Monday challenge where the challenge was to Layer It Up.
I needed to make a baby card for a gal at work who had a baby shower yesterday.  Here is what I came up with.
I love to do cards as usually the papers come out of my scrap basket.
And not sure who made the stamps.

The second card is for the challenge at Impression Obsession.
The challenge is (Not So) Moody Blues.  Show your blue projects.

I used their truck die(218-I)
2grass dies(178-C, 60-I)
Fir tree die(084-V)
Tiny flowers die(140-D)
Next time I will run the tree through an embossing folder to give it some texture.
Have a couple more to share tomorrow.

Quiet Weekend

That is what I am having!  After woking 2 - 12 hour shiftsthis werk I am pooped.  And the SOS went out again this morning, but I can't keep going at the rate I have been.  They need to hire more nurses for our unit.  They have let the staff numbers dwindle down to where there are barely 3-4 nurses on a shift.  So much, forvwhen we need 5-6.  People are burning out from working extra.  They need their days off.  And a full time person is already expected to pick up 24hours extra in a six week schedule. This was to be a temporary staffing fix that has not gone away.  I bet you don't see management doing this!  Enough ranting!!  As you can guess, I did not go in ths morning.

But I do have a couple of snap I took from my office on Friday morning when I agreed to cover a shift so a co- worker could spend the day with her mum. One advantage of working before sunrise!

I have been spending a little time in my scrap space slowly working on photos.
The first layout is of Cooper out in the snow, last month.  This year he has figured out playing in this white stuff.  The kids were off school and Kirsten brought them over to go sledding.  We have a small hill in our back yard.  It is awful come grass mowing season!

This second layout is where you most likely see Nic at our house.  He loves anything electronic and has a time limit set at our house!  I was cleaning out the scrap drawer with baby items to give me space for something else.  Figured these were good papers to use.  I like that the plaid kind of matched his shirt.

A Taste of Spring!

It's been a beautiful March Day!  Warm temperature(65F).  Sunny skies.  Kind of breezy.  It was a cleaning day for me.  Vacuuming!  Mopping floors.  I even cleaned the inside of our big bay window.

Harlee was here after school and headed out to get on the heavy duty pogo stick Auntie Cait had given her for Christmas.  She has out grown the last one. The new one proves to be a challenge and requires a lot more oomph to get it going.

And the word is out the snow geese and tundra swans are starting to congregate at Freezeout Lake as they migrate north to their nesting areas. We will have to make a trip.

WOWZERS!

What a fabulous week for my birthday to fall!

Last weekend, Curtis, Harlee and I headed out of town.  We headed south.  To Yellowstone National Park with the camera club folks.  Curtis and Harlee are members.  We are so fortunate to have 2 National Parks within driving range.  Yellowstone is about a 4 hour drive for us.  We made a short stop in Bozeman for some luch and were there shortly after.  It was a beautiful day on Friday.  Harlee sure didn't mind skipping school! Sometimes more important things can be learned out of school.

Lots of critters were out.  They were taking over the roads as opposed to the tourists.  Most of the Yellowstone roads are closed during the winter, but the northern road between Gardiner and Cooke City is open. Saturday morning was spent with the wolf research team.  They are very active in March following the wolf activity through the park.  They were parked waiting for a pack to come back to a fresh kill from the day before.  They never did while we were there, but it was most educational for the kids that were with us.

We came back on Sunday.  Followed by my birthday on Monday.  Woke up in the middle of the night with a throbbing headache.  These storm fronts moving through are killing me.  I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my sister.  And lots of flamingo stuff from my family.  They know I love flamingos and there seems to be lots of flamingo items these days.

Tuesday, Kirsten and I headed back to Bozeman to hear Sir Elton John in concert.  There was some retail therapy before hand.  Kohl's seemed to have a plethera of kids clothes marked 70% off.  Winter coats for the boys for next year were found.

Elton John played straight for 2-1/2 hours to a pretty packed house.  Glad he likes to come to Montana to perform.  And I was able to check one item off on my bucket list.  I have always wanted to hear him perform.  We had awesome seats- Row 19, on the floor. Obviously one could see him very clearly.

We cane home Wed. And managed to beat the predicted storm.   And yesterday I was at work renewing my BLS and now current for another 2 years!  Next on the agenda is getting my passport renewed.  I see a pn upcoming trip to Lethbridge.

Flicker Feast

Sometimes the early bird catches the worm or sees the flickers, in this case!

Still, getting up early, early!  Monday, I worked so that meant out the door a little after 5:30.  Yesterday, Curtis was taking an Avis run to Idaho Falls and needed to be across town to the airport by 7.

It was just starting to get light as I was driving home.  The sky was kind of pretty with the greys and soft pink.  It certainly wasn't a bright orange, yellow kind of sunrise.

I was picking up the kitchen snd I could hear those birds making noise out back and so,I took a look and there were all kimds of flickers out there.  I counted at least 7 and there could have been more.

Who knows if they will be back today?  Awake early , but don't have to be flying out the door.  Covering a couple of hours at work for a gal later.  And the wind is howling out there.

This is my layout for today.
Nic at swim lessons last summer.
Background papers are from American Craft.  I think one is from
Dear Lizzy and the other Amy Tangerine
The blue waves is a scrap. The black waves was a paper edge cut off one of those paper I think
I used American Craft Thickers and Bo Bunny letter stickers
The swim trunks were Carta Bella
