Happy Halloween

Tonight is the night for all the ghosts and goblins to come knocking at the door!  Not sure if I have enough candy to hand out.  It's always a crap shoot to guess how many will come.  It is never consistent!and it will be a Saturday night and the weather is decent.  Kirsten and her crew will be here for dinner and going around our neighborhood.
Yesterday we picked up Harlee from school.  They were done at 1:15 yesterday.  She played with my girls American dolls.  Molly was in and out of so many clothes.  She was impressed there was a Girl Scout uniform. She played with her Playmobil.  Then she had some time on the computer.  Got her some dinner and headed out for her first basketball game of the season.  Wow!  What a vast improvement from last year!!!  She got a few baskets!  They don't keep score, but I am pretty sure their team won.

And yesterday I took a trip out to Michaels and ran a couple of errands.  Came home and created some more Christmas cards. I am not much of a glitz girl, except for this year and my cards.  I want them to look all glittery!
Dies used are from Memory Box(Christmas)

a little gold colorshine to give it the sparkle

It's Been a Crafty Week!

Despite fighting off this head cold it has been a productive crafty week.

I have finished off an awesome pair of sock that have just been hanging around.
Curtis went on a Red Cross blood run yesterday to Sydney, MT.  It is 374 miles from Great Falls almost as far north east in Montana that you can go.  He left around 6am yesterday and didn't get back until after 9pm last night.

I managed to have a productive day at home.  Kirsten came over and I finally got my new family photos up on the wall.  They have been in their frames for at least the last month.  Makes me happy.  I spent a little time with her and Cooper.
I got my laundry done.  I picked up Harlee from school and did a couple of errands.
Then last night I went for a quilting class to make an autumn table runner.  Almost finished, but not quite.
Also I have been making a couple of Christmas cards, which I will show you one of today.
Linking it up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge, where anything goes.  This is my first attempt at making a shaker card.  And I used the new Fuse Tool by We R Memory Makers!
This is what I came up with!  Sorry for the bad lighting, it is a grey, dismal day here today.
I used a Sizzix embossing folder
a memory box die

Just a Few More!

Photos, that is!
Have a dreary, rainy day out.  Snow in the higher elevations.
Going into work for a few hours.  Think I won't be doing any more scheduled shifts after the meeting yesterday.  It is a dictatorship and that is not how I roll!!!!
Watched two of the munchkins last evening while Kirsten took Nic to boy scouts.
Trying to fight off a cold, which makes me feel miserable.  I was in bed until 7am, which is majorly sleeping in for me!!!

I put my fish eye lens on for the tree below and shot up into the sky

I did this layout of Harlee, when she and Cait went hiking up at the old Girl Scout camp in the summer.

I moved shifts at work and am now on call today and will shortly go in for a mandatory meeting.  Think I am trying to fight off a cold. All stuffy this morning.
I worked a few hours yesterday afternoon.  And not too busy after being crazy last weekend.
Curtis did an Avis run to Idaho Falls yesterday.  6 hours straight south down the Interstate.  \
So, I am off and running.  Talk to you all later.

Saturday Down on the River

This morning, the GF camera club had an outing down at Giant Springs, on the Missouri River.  I joined Curtis and his fellow members.
Even before we got down there we saw a beautiful fox not too far from home.  Within city limits.  Not quick enough to get a photo.  Then driving along the river to reach our destination there was either a muskrat or beaver swimming in the river.  We tried to go back to get a photo, but he had disappeared too.
It didn't feel too chilly out, despite being 31F.   But, my feet were cold and cramping up when I got back home.
While everyone was trying to catch water shots, I took a stroll along the path by the river to catch some nature shots.

I love these natural grasses they have planted
Still lots of beautiful leaves on the trees
 Oh, yes, water!
 Texture on a tree.

 texture on the clay rocks
 a little plant lift.
And  a layout of the littlest one,.

A Fall Layout

I have recently discovered The Cut Shoppe, which has some awesome cut files for my Silhouette.
I downloaded one with some awesome leaves and thought they were perfect for a layout I was starting to do.
The leaves I cut out of some old Basic Grey paper.  They got a little misted with some colorshine.
And here is the end result.

The background paper is a Christmas paper from Teresa Collins- Tinsel and Company.  I thought it worked perfectly for this layout.
A little die cut from Imaginisce
The title was also cut on the Silhouette.
And the background paper was also misted with some colour shine in primrose, tea and gold.

Today is Friday.  I was supposed to go into work at noon to cover for a gal.  But they seem to have sent a few babies home and I will just be on call, which is OK with me.
We get Harlee after school and feed her and make sure she gets to basketball practice.
Kirsten and Tim are lucky to have us around to help them out.
I watched the boys last evening while Harlee had her teacher/parent conference.  She is at the top of her class.  So proud of our little Toots!!!

Oh, Why Does Fall Have to End?

How I have enjoyed this fall! It has been pretty nice! I was out walking this morning! It was sunny and not too cold and NO WIND!!!!!

Leaves are still turning. Some trees are completely bare. We need to get out and mulch up the leaves in the front yard!

But instead I went shopping with Kirsten. We went to the Boy Scout office to get a shirt snd bandanna for Nic! We ran to the mall and then Target! I got a few Christmas presents to put away! I got a cool fall decoration 60% off! That is how I get mist of my holiday decor. I wait until it is really cheap!!! I will not pay full price for stuff!

Yesterday, I did manage to get my house cleaned and my laundry done.

A Card of Blue!

The blog at Impression Obsession has a challenge going - Feeling Blue?, using their products.
So I decided I would create a card for their challenge since I have a few of their dies.

It is not a true blue, but more of muted tones.
First I misted some grey Bazzill cardstock with Ocean ColorShine.
Then I cut out the fir trees and the birch trees.  I wanted the fir trees to have more texture so I ran them through an embossing folder.
The grass I wanted it to sparkle like it had frost on it and used some Wink of Stella.  But it is hard to see unless you see it in person.
And lastly I cut the deer of blue vellum, so they would look like shadows in the woods.

And here it is.

Dies used:  Deer Trio DIE080-N
                  Birch Trees DIE079-U
                 Grass Border DIE60-I
                  Fir Trees DIE084-V

Today, Kirsten and I ran down the road to Helena.  There was a new Hobby Lobby that opened yesterday and we wanted to check it out!!!  It is very nice and I didn't even go overboard buying stuff.  But, Cooper had to twist my arm into buying him a railroad sign for him.  He is obsessed with train stuff.  Every time he sees track or signs he almost goes into orbit.
We hit up Costco.  Had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wing.  A quick trip around Ben Franklin and Target and back home.   Cooper was very good putting up with the two lady shoppers.  We must have worn him out, 'cause he slept all the way home!!!
Tomorrow will be a catch up day at home.  Cleaning and laundry!

Start of a New Week!

Here we go starting another new week.  I will be working today.  And it is a busy little place these days.  I worked on Saturday, after only having 3 hours of sleep.  Was totally bushed when I came home, ate some dinner, took a bath and headed to bed and slept hard.  Thankfully the hip is much improved and I was able to go to work.  It was much too busy to call in sick.
It seems our unit can float anywhere when we are slow, but can we get a little help when we are super busy?  Oh, no!!!  No one feels comfortable walking through those locked doors.  So, not right!!!
So, I spent a pretty chilled day yesterday.  I did play in my scrap room and accomplished one layout and one card.  And I did manage to cook a yummy dinner.
Otherwise pretty boring around here and that is ok.  But, I can share a couple of layouts with you.
Since we have new family photos I thought I should scrap up the old ones.

Fireman Nic

A couple of weeks ago, when we were watching the grandkids Nic got to dress up in firemen gear! And climb up on one of their trucks! It was miserable out! But there wasn't a line up, so it was an adventure for him! It made his day!

He looks so happy!

Yesterday morning I broke down and went to the immediate care to get my hip checked out. It hurt and I had hardly slept the night before! So, they are telling me it us my SI joint, that is inflamed and irritated. I was prescribed a few days of anti-inflammatory meds and some muscle relaxers at bedtime. Already this morning it is much better! Hopefully, if I rest it today it will be ready for work tomorrow. How one little sore knee can lead to bigger issues!

I watched the grandkids for a bit yesterday, while Kirsten got a new hair do! And Nic had a great sleepover the night before. It usually takes him a while to settle in bed. But that night he crashed and went right to sleep. Curtis did
a blood run to Helena and was home in time for a yummy pot roast dinner.
And speaking of Helena, they have a Hobby Lobby coming to town and it opens next week! I hear a road trip coming!

What's New On Wednesday?

Not too much really!

My siatica has really bothered my since I was pregnant with my oldest.  But, it has really kicked up this week.  On top of that, or because of it, my knee has been acting up too.  This getting older sucks sometimes.  And standing making Thanksgiving dinner on Monday, on the tile floor probably didn't help any.  Yes, I do have an mat that I stand on.

And I also worked a few hours yesterday.  And I went walking yesterday, but I did not go today. It hurts!!!

I wanted to go walking, because it is so gorgeous out.

So, I have to entertain you with scrapbook layouts instead.

The first is of the big kids from their swimming lessons this past summer.

Keeping My Canadian Heritage Alive.

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving and we celebrate and say thank you in this household.  One of the few things to keep my Canadian Heritage alive.  So there will be a turkey going into the oven shortly.  The pies are baked.  And we look forward to a yummy dinner this evening.

It probably makes it easier living close to the Canadian border.  Although most of my family and friends are back east in Ontario.

Now, Caitlin is carrying on the tradition at her place in Seattle.  She has friends coming for dinner to help her celebrate.

I am happy I got to create this weekend.  Although I seem to be somewhat tired today.  I got to finish up 14 layouts the last two days, which is pretty good.  I believe it helped having pictures picked out and matching up papers to go with them.  Just took some embellishment with me and therefor I was able to pack quite minimally. And I also cut some titles on my Silhouette.
