Popsicle Pete

It's been a couple of hot days and the grandkids have spent the afternoons here.

I got the call at 5:00 am that the NICU needed me at work this morning.  Unlike Sunday morning when they forgot to call me.  Thankfully I was replacing a gal until lunch time and then could leave.

Curtis and I went out for lunch and then picked up the boys.  That way Kirsten could hear Harlee present at her writing class she has been to this week.  Next week swimming lessons begin.

Cooper always has fun in the backyard!  These are still photos from yesterday!

The grandkids have managed to demolish my popsicle supply and Capri sun drinks.  Will have to restock tomorrow with a trip to the grocery store.

The layout is of the Taieri Gorge train ride in Denedin, NZ.
I chose to use an enlarged photo with a couple of smaLler ones.
The strip on the right are actual stamps I bought on the train ride.
Bazzill cardstock.  Farmhouse patterned papers.
The title was cut with Sunshine Quickutz font.

Captain Underpants!!!!

I wonder who it is?....
Oh, my gosh!!!
One of the grandkids, of coarse!!

This one to be specific!
I went to help Kirsten wrangle the boys again when she took Harlee into her creative writing class.  I brought them back to my house with Cooper yelling at me to stop at tge stop sign( they were actually red stop lights, but whose counting).
We brought the big kids bikes over too!  Nic had been riding his bike since 8am this morning.  He got an early birthday present from nana and papa.
Shortly after we arrived here Cooper ditched his shorts he had on and they never went back on until he left!
Kirsten put the training wheels on Nic's not so old bike for Cooper.  He hasn't quite got the pedalling down.

A little layout I did of these 3 lovebugs!
Papers from

YOU letters are Heidi Swapp
The rest of the title cut on the Silhouette
The gold hearts are American Cradt Dear Lizzy Thickers

A Brand New Week

You can see everything is SO green. And almost a brand new month.  The year is speeding right along, since half of it is gone!

Yesterday I spent the good part of my day  at work. They forgot to call me to tell me they needed me.  And so my day was off to a bang!  I usually get up at 4:45 am when I have to be at work for 6.  The call didn't come until 5:10 and I punched at 6:10 which I didn't think was too bad.  Not how I like to start my day!

Last weekend Curtis and I went out on a drive to search for a small lake that is suppose to have Sandy Hill Cranes.  We never quite found it, but did enjoy a pleasant evening.

You can see everything is so green, right now!

Newly mowed crop of hay.

We came upon this herd of antelope and these two were very curious!

A layout I did of Cooper and his dad.

BG paper is Bo Bunny
All the rest came out of the scrap basket
Tried a little mixed media to the upper left of the photo.  Heidi Swapp
And a Memory Bix stencil.  Takes a long time to dry or maybe I put it on too thick?
Mini letters are by Glitz design
Yellow letter are Fancy Pants also the flair

At the Marsh!

It's a rainy, grey day and kind of chilly after our 90 degree day yesterday.  Perfect for being inside creating.  I am sharing 2 cards I created.

I recently invested in a magnetic plate for my Sizzix Big Shot.  Why didn't I get this sooner with all the die cutting I do!  If you don't have one I highly recommend getting one.

The first card is for the Impression Obsession challenge - Summer Fun.  I have some of their dies and thought I would try and put one together,  They want you to use all their products and the second card uses some other dies.

Sunrise at the Marsh
Using dies 187-L shorebirds, 087-P cattails, 060-I Grass border, 178-C small grass border
The scallop border frame is a Pretty Pink Posh die
I blended Tim Holtz distress inks to get my background- Mustard yellow, Spiced marmelade and Worn lipstick
The dragon flies I gut of vellum and sprayed them with Colorshine in Mint Green and gold
No greeting as yet , because then I can use it for whatever.

My second card is of moose in the marsh.
Today I have pulled out vellum, which I haven't used in a very long time, but seemed perfect for the mountains- which were cut with a Mama Elephant die Snow capped mountains
Moose die- Marianne design
I also put copper stickles on top of the cattails

Hope you got to be creative today.

Creating some Cards

It's been a while since I made any cards and I saw a couple of challenges I wanted to  enter.

I saw this challenge at Poppy Stamps blog and I have quite a few of their dies.
You needed to play tic tac toe.  I chose the diagonal with flower, yellow and twine.

Here is what I created:
I started with the chicken fence back ground using some Tim Holtz distress ink- Mustard yellow and TCW stencil
I sprayed the sunflower diecut with some gold Colorshine
A little twine and then I thought it needed a little pop of colour and I added the orange butterfly.
3 little pearls from Teresa Collins

Will also link up with Simon Says Stamp challenge where you need to add some shimmer.

My second card is for the Memory Box challenge #13 where you needed to water color.
I used a water pen and again some Tim Holtz distress ink- mustard yellow, persimmons, mowed lawn and corduroy.
The sunflower die is from paper trey ink
My memory box die is the celebrate

and........ Here it is!

Hope you enjoy my creations from today!

Summer Solstice!

YWe have now experienced the longest day of the year and it makes me sad to think we go backwards now.  I love the long hours of daylight! And I have managed to catch a cold and so has Caitlin.  So feeling kind of miserable.
Glad I got the majority of cleaning done on Monday, because I sure didn't do much yesterday.  We had Nic stay over night.  He has been wanting to have a sleepover for a bit.  And Harlee has been spending her days at Girl Scout Day camp.  Thankfully we have been having a beautiful week for that, although yesterday got super windy.
A few more photo to complete our trip to Seattle.  Pike Place market.

The flowers are beyond beautiful and so cheap!!  You can get a gorgeous bouquet for $5

Giant sized garlic!

Request from Toots!

Harlee's one request on our trip to Seattle was a visit to their aquarium.  Of coarse, Caitlin wanted to do this too, so we waited for her day off. Harlee was in her element and she really enjoyed herself.

There is a great tide pool where you can touch star fish and sea cucumbers and other sea creatures.

Love me some jelly fish.  They are so relaxing to watch swim around.
This octopus escaped a few weeks back
Look at this great tile they have near the bathrooms
Who knew fish ate lettuce?

Yes, I got in a photo.
Oh, she waited patiently at the seal tank for one to get close.  One swam right up and checked her out.
And we got to see them feed the otters.
They have a huge dome tank with sharks and halibut and salmon and more, you can see swim right over and around you.  So cool!

How we spent our morning and then we headed to Pike Place Market.
