My Bag is Packed

And I am ready to fly out in the morning to Washington,  DC.  A visit with my sister since her son is getting married on Sat.  The wedding is in Gettysburg.  So, I basically spend tomorrow in the air or in the Denver airport!
I think I could have over done it today as I am exhausted!!!  Had a bad night sleeping.  Cleaned bathrooms .  Then I started vacuuming and washing floors.  Got downstairs done and headed upstairs.  I was wondering why the vacuum kept shutting off and then it just died!  One dead Dyson!  I have had it for quite a few years probably at least 10 years.
I did a few loads of laundry.  Took H. For a haircut before school starts tomorrow.
Booked a flight for Cait for Christmas.  Then was on the phone for quite a while with Hawaiin airlines, as they needed to rebook our flights for Nov.  Right now, We have no confirmed seat assignment, which doesn't make me rest east.  I booked early so I could get the seats I wanted!  They may be getting an earful from me come Nov.   But enough for now, I am headed to bed.

The Fruits of my Labor!

A couple of evening ago I made a batch of raspberry jam.  Curtis had gone to Helena for work and stopped at Costco and brought the raspberries home.
Today, I tackled peaches.  None of this fruit is local to MT.  But there is a fruit stand not far away that brings in peaches from WA.  So, I headed up there to get a box of peaches.
I have canned some peaches.  Made some peach jam..  And then I shredded some zucchini to put in the freezer, so that I can make chocolate zucchini cake when the weather cools down somewhat.
Way to hot to be baking with temps well into the 90's.

A Day Spent with the Munchkins!

Today, Kirsten and Tim had a car show they wanted to go to.  They had their cars entered.  Kirsten asked if we would watch the kids!
I went to get them around 8:30 and dropped Kirsten off at the fairgrounds.
By the time we got home grandpa had pancakes on the griddle.
Curtis and Harlee went for a motorcycle drive.
Found out Cooper loves swinging in the sky chair out back.
And Nic loved watching U tube videos about garbage trucks, police cars and other emergency vehicles.
Kirsten and Tim picked the big kids up around 5pm and headed to the watermark.  The school was sponsoring the evening at the pool.  Lots of swimming and a BBQ for $12.  Pretty good deal for the whole family.  We kept the baby.
I am pooped out tonight.

The Lost Has Been Found!!!

Last Friday I misplaced our checkbook.  I knew it was in the house, but where?  I have torn several things apart searching for the darn thing.  Tonight when putting H to bed in Cait's old room.  I lifted up this kids puzzle and lo and behold there it was.  I had gone into her room, as a piece had been missing and every time you turned off the light the cruise ship whistle blew.  It obviously blew one too many times and I went to deal with it.

Had a rough night.  I woke up at 1:15 and couldn't get back to sleep.  The ceiling fan had got shut off and I felt like I was suffocating!!!.  I got up at 2 and was up until 3:30.  I woke up with a booming headache.  Despite it all, I had a productive morning.  I washed down my big bay window in the front.  I took out the screens and washed them all down too.  Then I tackled the car.  Took the mats out and washed them.  Vacuumed the car all out and wiped surfaces off.  Meant to do this before today, but it just didn't happen.
After lunch, I headed to work for a two hour class on computer charting.
This evening was Kindergarten orientation.  I watched H & C so Kirsten could focus her attentions with Mr. Nic.  Harlee is spending the night.

Our Big Guy!

Mr.C had his 4 month check up today.  He is growing by leaps and bounds.  He is now 18lbs.-1oz.  He is also 27-1/4in long.  He is drooling, drooling, drooling!  He is also turning from his back to his front.  He has been eating cereal for a few weeks now and can start on solid food.  He likes to jabber and sing.  He likes his crinkly monster and his ball.  And he had to get 3 shots today!

Been a crazy kind of day.  I was cancelled from work.  So I decided to get some work done at home.  Vacuumed through.  Mopped floors upstairs. And dusted the new wood floors.  A little before noon I get a call from work that I would need to go in so someone could float.  This does not make me happy.  I am on registry to support my own staff and not so someone can float to another unit and I can work!!!!  So I run to the grocery store to get a few things before I head to the unit.  A few minutes before I am to leave work calls again and they have decided the person doesn't have to float and I can stay at home!  Make up my mind, would you!!!!  Floating always makes people on edge.
Since I got to stay at home Kirsten came over with the kiddos and they played outside.  And that was my day in a nutshell.

A Day of Classes

Today, I spent the day at work, but taking classes.  Every 2 years we need to retake the STABLE coarse.  It is a class for how to stabilize a newborn and required if you work in the NICU.  t some point I need to do my NRP(neonatal resuscitation program). It is a very non stress day.  But having to sit Ina hard chair all day just about did me in.
I am scheduled to work again tomorrow, but I may be cancelled.  They are now working with four RN's, but I am the 5th.  So, I will either just be on call, or I will work and someone else will float, which irks me beyond measure.  I am registry and am scheduled to benefit my home unit, not staff the rest of the hospital!

Thursday was busy with all three grand kids.

Spending a little Quality Time

With 2 of my grandchildren today.  Harlee and Cooper were here and Nic will be here tomorrow , too.
Cooper decided cat napping was in vogue today.  He is teething, so lots of drool.  Harlee is such a little mother to him.  She didn't want to leave.  She was out in the back on our hammock swing, just enjoying herself.  Papa was out there with her too.  It was nice spending the day with them.
Got all my Santas put back in their display cabinet.  Slowly getting things back in there rightful place.
Was able to use the new sink and faucet today, too.
Supposed to be really hot for the next couple of days.  I will be hanging out in the AC.

A Little Road Trip

OThis morning I headed down the road to Choteau, to pick out tile for the kitchen floor.  It should have been a beautiful drive, as it is west of us, about an hour, in the foothills of the Rockie mountains.  But it is so smokey ad hazy you could not see any mountains.  Lots of birds on Freezeout Lake.  And road construction.  It is the season to do road repair.   Out in the middle of no where there was a red stoplight.  And I had to stop and wait for the pilot truck.  It made me late for meeting the person tp help me choose the tile.  Curtis was home dealing with the plumber putting the new faucet and garage disposal on the kitchen sink.
A field of wild flowers along the way.

Choteau does not normally have a stop light!
And look at my dirty windshield!

A Kitchen Facelift.

Decided it was time to give my kitchen a little updating,  the counters were a little tired.  The floors are showing their age.  The garbage disposal quit a few weeks back.  So, the new granite counter tops were installed today.  The plumber comes in the morning to install the faucet and garbage disposal.  I go to pick out ceramic tile in the morning for the floors.  I think there will be a paint job.  Especially since they had to fit out some wall to get rid of the old counter.  But, I love the new counters.  They are beige with brown, grey, cream and dark blue.   Will take picture tomorrow in better light.

One little layout I created today, since I was cancelled from work. Spent time in my scrap space while they were installing cabinets.

A Quiet Sunday

It has been a quiet day.  After a doozy thunderstorm last night, which woke me up.  I didn't even sleep in this morning.  Had a long, lovely bath in my jacuzzi tub, reading a good book.
I have spent the day unloading boxes and putting away breakables into my china cabinet.  Actually ran them through the dishwasher.  Still have to get my Santas in their cabinet.
Meanwhile packing up stuff off the kitchen counters getting ready for installation of granite counter tops tomorrow.  It will be a transformation.  Now, to move forward and pick out the tile for the looks on Tuesday.  Curtis and I ran out to Home Depot to pick out a new kitchen faucet for the sink and a new garbage disposal.  I have been missing the old one that broke down several weeks ago.
Work called and I could possibly be canceled tomorrow.  Will get up at my regular time and call in to see what the scoop is.

Saturday

End of another week.  Curtis seems to be getting back on his feet again.
I worked a half a shift this morning since I had to miss on Thursday.
Came home and started the laundry.  Curtis had pulled the sheets off the bed, so they got done too.
Managed to fit a nap in since I haven't been sleeping well the last few nights.
Tomorrow I need to clean off my kitchen counters, since there are new granite counter tos being installed on Monday.  And Tuesday I am going to pick out tiling for the floors.

A little layout I completed recently.

Visit to the ER

The other night I was just getting ready to head to bed and Curtis tells me I better get dressed because he has blood in his urine and need to go to the ER.  It is 1030 at night.  What the heck-I am supposed to work at 6am.  We head into the ER to eventually find out he has a UTI, which I already told him that was what was wrong.  They start an IV and  give him a litre of fluids, take oodles of blood and make him pee in a cup.  After a couple of hours they let us go home after starting him on antibiotics.  So needless to say I didn't make it to work in the morning, as it was after 1am when I hit the hay.
Things are slowly improving, although he spent all day yesterday in bed.  He didn't even get up to say hello to Kirsten and crew.  They were over trimming an unruly willow tree from the neighbors that likes to encroach on my yard.  They cleaned out the gutters.  And they helped move furniture back into the living room.  Although Nic went to spend a few quality moments with papa.  And eat some Cheerios with him.  He has had a quiet day at home today, while I worked away.  I am going back to work for a while in the morning, as they needed to juggle some peoples shifts around.
So, I am headed to bed, as I haven't slept real well for 2 nights.  Will leave you with a little layout of Mr. C.

Middle of the Week

And I head back to work tomorrow.  Kirsten has rounded up some guys to help get the furniture moved back into the living room tomorrow evening.  Actually, I kind of like it empty.

I watched this little man today.

He actually napped long enough to get the floors mopped.  I think Curtis was shocked how filthy the water was.

Trying to Get Back to Normal!

Trying to get everything back to normal.  Curtis, with help got the big pieces of furniture back in the living room.  Kirsten is rounding up some guys for Thursday evening to do the rest. Floors look awesome!

Today, I pulled sheets off beds and got them washed up.  Happy to hang them outside today. Did some vacuuming.  Cleaned the bathrooms.  Wanted to do that since Curtis was sick over the weekend.  Ran to a target for a few things.  Ran to the grocery store.

Missing Cait.  Had a great couple of days spending time with her.  She is so happy out on the coast.  Wish we could all be together!  Have to make the most of the time we all spend together.

A couple of photo I took in Tacoma yesterday morning!

Long Day in the Car!

Have spent the day in the car driving back to the coast with Cait.  We left home around 6:30.

We stopped about 3hours down the road , in Missoula and had a little breakfast at IHOP.  Long day driving across the state of WA.  We arrived around 6:30pm.
I wanted seafood for dinner since it is at the coast.  We went to Dukes Chowder House.  Where I had a great meal of scallops, prawns and a Crab cake. Totally yummy.  Curtis isn't too fond of seafood.

Will get on a plane tomorrow evening and fly home.  Great couple of days spent with Caitlin.

Waffles for Breakfast

Today is Cait's last day here.  boy, has that week gone fast.  We decided last evening I would make waffles for breakfast, since neither of us get them very often.  Got some strawberries to go with.

We all went to the fair for a bit late yesterday afternoon.  My layouts won quite a few categories.  I earned $54.  Not too shabby.  I got one honorable  mention for a photo of Harlee that I entered.
The scrapbooks, quilts and cards are way on the other end of the fairgrounds with all the 4 H stuff.  I think a lot of people miss seeing them since they are so far from everything else.  I am sure no one actually goes into that building. Unless they have stuff entered.

Curtis is headed up to meet his dad at Essex for lunch.  It is almost in Glacier Park.  About a 3 hour drive,  and he is on the motorcycle.  It is his day's birthday tomorrow.  He is celebrating being 88 years young.

Another New Month!

August is upon is.  Where the heck did July go??
Yesterday, I watched the 3 munchkins at their house since mine is in a mess.
We had quite a rainy afternoon and evening.
I took Curtis out to the fair to sit at the photography section again.
And I picked up photos at Sams, so I would have more to scrap and update Coopers album.
Today is supposed to be rainy again and very much cooler.  We probably will head to the fair to check out the exhibits.  Curtis and Caitlin are headed out shooting this morning.  I can have a quiet morning to myself.  Always can find something to do, though.
